Explanation about flight

WALT to explain how or why something occurs.

How do wings work ?

Birds have wings so they can fly. Wings have special shapes.

The wings are curved and streamlined. The air flow moves under and over wings . The two flows of air move differently.

The different wind flow helps lift the wings. The
higher air pressure below the wings pushes them up.
The air, angle of the wing and air pressure differences around the wings create lift.

Wings on a plane act like a huge scoop. As they scoop or pull air down the plane can rise. The air pressure is lowers above the wings.

Wings help objects fly because they are curved and streamlined. They use air pressure changes to move up and down .
